Tyson's Story

So this is a story I contributed to the Victorian AIDS Council's Staying Negative campaign a few years ago.

One of the first times I spoke publicly about sex work, it was told at a time when I was still using a working name, I talk about a number of things including how I got started, talking about stigma and coming ut as queer to my family.

Bio

Sex worker, Community worker, Activist; Christian (aka: Tyson Quorren-Smith amongst other aliases) has been involved with sex work for over 15 years.

Christian grew up in Melbourne, and after a stint in Hobart over 2014-15, is now based in Canberra.

In 2013, Christian started to broadcast a sex worker radio show on JOY 94.9, The Vixen Hour, which can be heard on Mondays at 9pm.

As a sex worker activist, Christian has taken on a number of roles. He is a highly active member of Vixen, the Victorian Sex Industry Network, a social support group entirely constituted of sex workers who seek to provide a voice for Victorian sex workers.

As part of his role with Vixen, Christian is one of the directors of the Festival of Sex Work.

Christian is also politically active. A member of the Australian Sex Party, Christian ran in both the state and federal election in 2010.

Passionate about engaging with the community is an open and sex positive way, Christian also helped organise Pleasure Forum Australia for it's life.

Christian was also the elected National Representative of Male Sex Workers by the Scarlet Alliance, the Australian sex worker association between 2007 and 2012.

Previously, he worked at RhED (Resourcing Health and Education in the Sex Industry), as the Health Education and Support Worker for Male and Trans* Sex Workers in Victoria and co-ordinated the Hustling 2 Health Program, a peer based, after hours drop-in service for street sex workers. After nine years these roles ended in October, 2011.

Alongside this experience, Christian sex work career spans many contexts from street work to escort agency work to private work with special needs clients. Highly versatile, either being the boy next door or the boy your mama warned you about, Christian has well practiced skills in physical, intellectual and sensory satisfaction.
